Flickr Geotagging
At last!! Flickr have launched a way to hook up flickr and Yahoo! Maps.
I started work on a system like this for podcasts, but had stopped work when I saw that they didn’t cover Europe. Now I see they cover the whole world, so it’s time to dig out that flash file and knock out a version for podcasts. Hurrah! π
Here’s a map of photos in Antigua. And watching the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Cooool!
I had a related idea for geo-tagging for second life:
http://lev-kamenev.blogspot.com/2006/08/secondlife-geotagging.html
I would be cool if such tags would appear in RSS feeds generated by blogHud. π
I am working on some display tools for these.
I do not have your email address but would love to chat with you about blogging, geotagging and Second Life. You can email be at address above or catch me in the game.
Lev.
I display the point location in the blogHUD RSS feeds.
Though, it seems we need to RFC a standardised way to write these tags.
I will look you up in world π or mail me at kosso1 at gmail dot com
there are standards for real world geocoding, see them in here:
http://www.folkestonegerald.com/php/venue.php?realale=1&pool=1
see in there also the way to extend rss so it still validates too (i needed some new tags of my own), probably you know that though
yup! I shall set about updating my RSS to add an slgeo namespace – that might be a good start π
are you in SL yet?? You’d like the geeky aspect, where you can program and sell ‘stuff’ π
you should come to LondonBarCammp this weekend and geekout like mofo π – I will be
